M. Schoonover

Mary Schoonover graduated from Illinois State University in 1991. She earned her Bachelor’s Degree in Special Education (LD, BE, EMH). She went on to earn a Master’s Degree in Curriculum and Instruction from Olivet Nazarene University and a Master’s Degree in Psychology-Leadership and Coaching from Walden University. Mary has taught special education at the middle school level for 30 years with the last 24 years at Hoopeston Area Middle School. She coached the Middle School Scholastic Bowl team for 12 years. Over the years, Mary has served on numerous building committees. Mary resides in Paxton with her husband, daughter, & their cat, Jackson. Together, her husband and she have five children and five grandchildren. Her daughter will be a senior at Hoopeston Area High School this fall. Mary enjoys crafts, especially cross-stitch, reading, word puzzles, and spending time with her family and friends. She especially enjoys watching her grandchildren grow and attend their activities.
